        There are 5 vowels in the Japanese language.
           (a) pronounced "ahh",       (i) pronounced like "e" in "easy"     (u) pronounced like "oo" in "scoop"
           (e) pronounced like "e" in "echo",     (o) pronounced "oh".
 
        Aikido 合気道 The way of harmony with Ki(気).
        Aikikai 合気会 The name of any aikido school recognized by Aikido World Headquarters.
        O Sensei 大先生 Great Teacher, Morihei Ueshiba (植芝盛平), the founder of Aikido
        Shihan 師範 Senior Teacher
        Sensei 先生 Instructor
        Senpai 先輩 Senior Student
        Kohai 後輩 Junior Student
        Dojo       道場   A place where martial arts training takes place.
        Postures
       Seiza 正座 Proper sitting
       Kiza 跪座 Kneeling, but up on the toes
       Uke 受け The partner initiating the "attack"
       Nage 投げ The partner executing the technique
       Maai 間合い The proper distance between Uke and Nage
       Hanmi 半身 A triangular stance, the basic on-guard position
       Migi-Hanmi 右半身  
       Hidari-Hanmi 左半身  
       Ai-Hanmi 相半身 When the partners are facing each other in a mutual triangular stance.
       Gyaku-Hanmi 逆半身 Reverse or opposite stance
        
       Shikko 膝行 A technique of walking the knees. Knee walking
       Irimi (or omote) 入り身 Moving to or across the front of an opponent, positive entering
       Tenkan (or ura) 転換 Body makes complete turn around attack. A 180 degree pivot to one's rear, on the lead foot.
       Irimi Tenkan 入り身転換 A circular movement of blending with an attacker
       Tenshin 転身 A movement where nage retreats 45 degrees away from the attack
       Strikes
       Shomen-Uchi  正面打ち An attack in which Uke strikes at Nage's forehead with an open hand.
       Yokomen-Uchi 横面打ち An attack in which Uke strikes at the side of Nage's neck or head with an open hand.
       Tsuki  突き A punch or thrust
       Hand Holds
       Kote-Gaeshi 小手返し One of the wrist techniques in which pressure is applied on the wrist away from Uke's body.
       Ktate-Tori 片手取り One hand holding hand
       Ryoto-tori 両手取り Two hands holding two hands
       Morote-tori 諸手取り Two hands holding one hand
       Ushiro-Ryote-tori 後ろ両手取り Two hands holding two hands from the back
       Ushiro-Ryokata-tori

Grabbing both shoulders from the back
       Throws
       Irimi-Nage 入り身投げ A throwing technique employing an entering/Irimi motion
       Shiho-Nage 四方投げ Four direction throw
       Tenchi-Nage 天地投げ Heaven and earth throw
       Kaiten-Nage 回転投げ Rotary throw
       Sumi-Otoshi 隅落とし  
       Technique
       Ikkyo 一教 1st principle
       Nikyo 二教 2nd principle
       Sankyo 三教 3rd principle
       Yonkyo 四教 4th principle
